I love anybody who reads any of my works, especially this, so feel free to empty your brains out and help me improve my article.  Maybe I missed something big.  Maybe it's full of crap and you can prove I'm nuts and it can never work, perhaps an old treaty where both sides promised to never merge until the Sun goes cold on pain of being taken over by Catherine the Great.

Seriously, I hope you want to  get the dual megamerge movements going, it's a practical not a theoretical matter.  Please don't attack my proposal on the grounds that you don't like me or that I might be a closet racist or other bad label.  The proposal is not about me, it's not my Mein Kampf and I'm not using it to become a new Der Fuhrer.  I'm not a politician type that likes to shake hands, kiss babies, and work for the govt., more of a Ben Franklin big brain old fart that stays in the library and churns out literature, so if nominated I will not run and if elected I will not serve. I can't and won't make it happen, and I lived my whole life without it happening and can live the rest of it that way too, tsk-tsking at how dumb people are.   I need existing or new politicians on each side of the border to take over and make it happen while I maybe accept a few laurels, sinecures, awards, gifts, prizes, free villas on the seacoast, naming ceremonies for airports, towns, highways, etc. :)  I like to think of the big ideas and leave the endless man-hours to others, sorry.  To work on the U.S. side it has to be a bipartisan effort, and to work on the Mexican side the U.S. has to make the first move, with the Congress officially inviting the people of Mexico to dissolve their govt. and join the U.S., after which the road may be smooth, it may be bumpy, but at least we will be moving down a road instead of staying stuck like for the last 160 years.

I returned to your article &, to be honest, read some & skipped some of a very enlightening & dynamic treatise. After having just finished reading Sam Houston's Texas, whereby he strongly advocated (pre-Civil War) making Mexico a protectorate, this idea of a mega-merge is not, in a certain sense, without historical precedent. Perhaps, if cooler & saner heads--both in the North AND in the South--would have prevailed many, if not all, of the Border/Amnesty problems America has experienced & continues to endure might never have been! I, myself, have thought of several solutions along the lines of mega-merge; however, I tip my hat & salute you (simutaneously) for having arrived at the very best solution for both countries & the world. Now, how do we get Mr. Obama, Congress & the powers-that-be in Mexico to agree to this capital concept?

Have him send me a chopper and I'll go to the White House and help him with his speech to Congress :)

Seriously, that's just what has to be done, the president must call on Congress to officially invite the people of Mexico to dissolve their corrupt Mexican federal govt. and join the U.S. as 10+ new states, hopefully with broad bipartisan support, any grumblers will pay later after the 110 million new citizens start voting. Although Obama is a Democrat, this is the time for the almost kaput Republican party of Lincoln to step up and gain a whole new life. The call must be to the people not their govt., although hopefully they will be delighted and fully cooperate, since only a few elite fatcats have anything to lose, and I think amnesty should be on the table so we can get on with it. If the Mexican govt. resists, we have to have a Plan B, I hope they remember Shock and Awe 2003.

Let's say they like becoming obsolete, and cooperate. Then it's up to the people to decide, probably via referendum, and I hope the answer will be si, hurry or Puerto Rico will beat ya, after which Congress will allocate the funds for it to happen and it's just a matter of all the little ole details getting worked out, which aren't my problem, I'm not in the govt. and don't want to be, although I'll take a private consulting contract :)

If you want to help, you can try dropping the name Megamerge Dissolution Solution every chance you can in posts to blogs, newspapers, etc., like I do, which is how I got this far, and hope the pot gets stirred. This whole thing started with me and it's my fault for waiting so long to publish it when I could have done it 25 years ago just as easy, but too bad, I was a confirmed recluse and was hoping somebody else would do it, they don't call me win slow for nothing :) But it is even more urgent now, isn't it, people are dying and suffering needlessly.

Never fear, if you click the webstats at the bottom of the page every day like I do you will see that a regular stream of universities and govt. agencies from the U.S. and Mexico have been visiting it in the last couple of months, plus govts. around the world, so maybe it's already in the works and it's still secret. More likely it's being vetted by experts, since I don't count, I am an unknown, which is fine, I know it will stand up to any kind of analysis. And I don't pretend to have a detailed plan with all the legalities, that will take a building full of experts anyway.

So, in short, ole!

TLW. I've just come across your site and this is the first time I have heard this kind of advocacy coming from other than my own mind. You have convinced me que si se puede. Yes, I myself have toyed with this thought myself (and likely many others) but it never seemed even worth discussing especially with all the anti-immigrant histeria that we are witnessing today. I am of Mexican ancestry, born and raised here in the US, I'm a Baby Boomer like you and a Vietnam veteran. I will definitely be checking in periodically and believe I will henceforth be an advocacy soldier in, what I hope is, the embryonic start of a new movement. This is going to scare the pants off of the Tea Partiers, the nativists, the criminals from both sides and many others, I'm sure. Kudos to you for having the courage and energy to provide an impetus to this innovative approach to our immigration problem. Thanks.

    Hi.  I set this blog up after releasing my Megamerge article so people can discuss the pros and cons with each other as well as me.  I know, it was set up on Cinco de Mayo, call it a coincidence :)
